Welcome to Gail Solo's website! Please know that Ms. Solo has recently retired. Although she is no longer representing clients, she is available for your calls to refer you to excellent colleagues and resources that may be of assistance to you. This website describes her former legal practice, and current examples of her activism and philanthropy.
Gail Solo was on the front lines passionately and honestly advocating equal rights in the workplace for 42 years. Her extensive litigation, trial, and negotiation skills earned her the distinction of having been selected as one of Southern California's Super Lawyers for the last twelve consecutive years, from 2007 through 2019, among many other awards for her distinguished community service. She has been recognized for the last seven years by Los Angeles Magazine as one of the top women attorneys in Southern California, from 2011 to 2018. She was relentless and tenacious in the pursuit of worthy cases.
After graduating with honors from UCLA Law School in 1975, Ms. Solo worked almost exclusively in the area of employment discrimination law. Her experience in starting her career in a respected insurance defense firm, and handling its plaintiffs' cases as Of Counsel, has given her a strong foundation in the realities of this complex practice from both sides. In addition to successfully representing wronged employees, she has represented banks, insurance companies, school districts, and large and small employers. This balance has empowered her with the advantage of knowing what constitutes a winning case, and how to win it.
Among her numerous accomplishments, her role in vindicating her unanimous $2.47 million jury verdict (prior to the imposition of prevailing attorney's fees and costs) has created important law in the areas of retaliation for protesting discrimination, and punitive damages to punish employers. Green v. Laibco, etc., et al. (2011) 192 Cal. App. 4th 441.
Ms. Solo's Beverly Hills practice was limited to representing employees wronged by workplace injustice. She has achieved great success, and benefits to the community at large, in prosecuting these legal wrongs:
With in excess of $59 million in settlements and verdicts to her credit, Ms. Solo took pride in every superb partnering relationship she formed with her honest and devoted clients. She promised them candor and hard work at all times, and she delivered.
